This week a local Roanoke, Virginia nursing home got official word about what has been making some of its residents sick. Norovirus is what caused 15 of the 60 residents of Brandon Oaks in Roanoke to get sick. To try to prevent any spreading, there have been limits on visits to people being cared for there since last Thursday. The facility hopes things will return to normal in the next day or so.

My Take: Kudos to Brandon Oaks for taking quick action to diagnose the problem and protect the remaining healthy residents as well as member of public who visit family in the facility. Many, if not most, nursing homes hide the existence of contagious diseases in their facilities.
