Herman Johnson needed good medical care and he didn't get it at the Beverly Enterprises owned facility located in Camden, Arkansas. Mr. Johnson was admitted to the facilty in March of 2005 and, less than 60 days later, was found unresponsive in his wheelchair suffering from bedsores, malnutrition, and dehydration. I don't call this good medical care!

Johnson's family filed a lawsuit against Beverly Enterprises asserting the nursing home was insufficiently staffed to provide adequate care for Johnson. The nursing home's lawyers argued at trial that Johnson's condition and death was due to long-term alcohol abuse and other chronic health problems. Obviously, the jury did not agree and awarded the family $1.4 Million in compensatory damages and $875,000 in punitive damages.

Maybe this nursing home will take better care of the next resident! Read the full report here.
