That is not my title but the title of a fasinating book by James B. Stewart published in 1999. The book is New York Times bestsetter and a true story about Dr. Michael Swango.

Dr. Swango gave the appearance of a model physician...he was smart, good-looking, and a hard worker. All these good traits aside, for some reason his patients were dying under unusual circumstances. Those patients died in Ohio, Illinois, New York, and South Dakota. The book reads like a great piece of fiction but unfortunately it is all too real.

I strongly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in how the medical community polices and disciplines its own members when things go bad.

My conclusion: This story is a prime example of why America cannot allow the medical profession (including the American Medical Association and state Boards of Medicine) to weed out the bad and dangerous doctors...they just turn a BLIND EYE.
