A 69-year-old man from Falls Church, Virginia has been charged with misdemeanor death with a motor vehicle following. The charge stems from a car accident in which his 65-year-old wife was killed. He was driving on Interstate 95 when he struck a camping trailer that was on the shoulder of the road.

The trooper said he did not believe heavy winds played a factor in the crash. The estimated speed of Schriefer's vehicle was 70 mph on impact. Warren said the misdemeanor death by motor vehicle charge reflects inattention on the driver's part. He said it was difficult to determine whether the man fell asleep. Alcohol was not a factor. "Basically, it comes down to he was the one at fault and it resulted in her death."

The driver only had bruises, but his wife suffered massive head trauma that resulted in her death.
